These bluebirds are handmade one at a time on the end of a four foot steel rod. The craftsman twirls the rod in pool of 2000 degree hot glass to bring out a pear shaped ball. He rolls the ball of glass into a tube shape and, with large tweezers, forms a beak and two eyes on the hot tube. With three pulls, the tail is formed. It takes about 2 months practice to acquire this skill, but the result is well worth it.
